Challenge: How would you let the user know there’s a fire happening in a nearby town that is causing road closures? The effect on their commute is unknown, but there is a definite danger if the fire gets closer. How do you communicate this to them? When? Write it.
My approach
Going into this challenge, it was important for me to understand the importance of communicating the urgency of this message. While urgent, I did not want to alarm the user with things such as exclamation points and capitalized letters. Their primary focus needed to be on the road. Since the user is driving, I opted for a shorter message to ensure their safety and to quickly communicate the message as they glance at their screen. I created three versions. I wanted to attempt to make my message as succinct as possible. Doing A/B testing would help me determine which version is best.
