Challenge: Write a promotional screen for an app that lets a user choose teams, sends game reminders, real-time score updates and highlight videos.
My approach
In tackling this challenge, I wanted first to understand the user and context. As a working parent, the user’s life revolves around their children, and they can no longer indulge in their favorite pastimes. They may feel longing and wonder how to keep up with their favorite sports. Our goal is to let the customer know that our app is their solution by highlighting our most popular features.
After reviewing similar sports apps like the Guardian and observing common idioms, I learned the language of sports fanatics. The language in my message should be succinct, positive, and informative. I also needed to get a busy parent excited. I came up with a few options based on my findings.
After creating those message variations, I would refine the messaging to ensure it is clear, concise, purposeful, and aligned with the brand tone and voice. For this particular challenge, I thought that a few variations worked. My next step would be to work with designers to create prototypes and then conduct A/B testing to see which messaging works best.
